How to prevent Steam from Auto Downloading and Updating Games?!!!
I use an SSD that has a limited amount of space. Enough for about 5 AAA titles. However, I have a huge External Hard Drive. The games I know I will replay I move the game folder contents to the External Hard Drive because it takes only a couple of minutes. When I do decide to the replay the game I just move it back into the SteamLibrary/SteamApps/Common/<Game Folder> then update the game. This way I don't have uninstall the game completely then re-download and install the game all over again.

The issue I'm having is that Steam is re-downloading the games and updating them until there is no more space left on the SSD. This is driving me crazy. Why can I not control when the games that I own are downloaded and updated? Is Steam trying to get everyone to abandon them and use GOG.com exclusively?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For what I know, you can do it individually. Go to your library, right click the game, go to "properties" and then "updates". Choose to only update when you launch the game, so Steam is not going to update anything unless you click to play the game.

The bad thing is: you need to it in every single game you want to not be automatic updated.
