Preload is a lie. How do I increase the speed it writes to the disk (Unpacks) ?
Right, so I downloaded destiny 2. For preloading. Expecting to be able to let it run and install on the release date in 5 minutes. Currently my disk usage is sitting at 1.4mb/s. My laptop is not ♥♥♥♥ by any stretch of the imagination. There is no justifiable reason for this to be so damn slow. How do I improve this?

Why the ♥♥♥♥ is it called preloading? There is no preload. You would be better off to just download the damn thing on the release date.

I already have an SSD, an i7, and 32gb ram. Which is why I am saying this bs should not be happening.

Decrypting the files on top of uncompressing, installing and moving files around.

Pre-loading is so crazy. I already downloaded and installed the game a while ago.

I am aware of the process it is going through. I do not know how to speed the process up. It is not using any of the resources I have assigned to it in an attempt to increase the speed.

Preload isn't a lie, you are just not one of those for whom it is helpful. Until a year ago I had an internet connection of ~1,5 Mbit if I didn't use it for streaming/tv. I would probably have needed the whole day or more to download 80GB. Preload is basically for users with slow internet (yes, they are still out there and sometimes it is not in their power to easily change that).

Given it took 6+ hours to download, which is a considerable time frame, I'm pretty sure my circumstances actually fit the criteria for this to be helpful. Except it's not. It is saying it will take 2 days to unpack. Seems like a pretty raw deal. Pretty much a lie. It's not preloading the software.

Actually it's not for you then. 6 hours is a while but there are a lot of people where it might take days or weeks.
Either Identify a solution or attempt to contribute, or do not respond.

Solution identified: don't preload.

Contribution submitted.

Response valid.

Have a nice day!
Way to make it obvious you're a ♥♥♥♥. Contribute something meaningful in future, instead of something worthless.
