Transferring/Copying games from an External HDD to PC
Hey yall.
I am currently at university, and am heading back home for break in just over a month. My parents house has limited internet so I thought I would do all my downloading here at uni first and take it back home with me on a external HDD I bought. I am currently using a laptop to game but back home, I have my own proper gaming PC that I would rather play on as it handles games better.

I was wondering if it was possible to *copy* games from an external HDD to the internal HDD on my laptop and PC, as the onboard HDD's have faster rpm than my external HDD so load times should be faster when downloaded onto the computer. I am not planning on illegally giving anyone free copies of a game, just copy it onto my own computer so load times are faster. Is there a way I can do this? Or is transferring files the only valid option?

yes its possible.

just copy it to your default steam directory.

steam will takes a while to verifying your game.

Is there a program for it? Finding and copying files of a game can be tedious and it often corrupts the files on transfer making it unplayable. I know there are programs to move games from an HDD to an SDD, but what about copying games from an external HDD to internal HDD?

cheers
idk any program for it. sorry

what you're supposed to do in the first place tho, is to use steam backup instead of copy and paste.
basically same thing, but using steam backup wont require verifying, it saves little time

dont worry about getting files corrupted. Even IF there's corrupted or missing files, steam will automatically fix it by downloading the remaining missing/corrupted files. you dont have to download the whole thing again

Okay thanks, I will give it a shot, may I ask how exactly to do that though? Im not really sure where to go.
All you really need to do is copy the entire Steam folder over to the new location and create a new shortcut to the Steam.exe file

Otherwise you will also need the appropriate .acf files as well
