Scam link or legit?
Did a few searches but couldn't find anything. Got a discord message from someone wanted to play a game, sent me a link that compared to every link I have ever seen looked out of place.

Basic format was

"ht tps:/s.team/p/xxxx-xxxx/XXXXXXXXX"

Maybe I am just old and paranoid but rather feel stupid and ask than click and "bye bye account" or something. Said it was his friend account direct link but not one I have ever seen used.

Since when do you use http(s) to play games?

Then it's a scam, do not click it, and report the person who sent it to you.

Well just to say it was /p/ not /chat, any difference in that or no?

Friend invite links...

Create one yourself.

Edit: Still so new and odd looking that it even got all the regulars confused.

Was a "link" to his account for friend request or so he said.

We got four ways to link find someone.
- Friend code
- Display name search
- Link to their profile
- Custom link created to their profile.

Just....

You'd think they would really want to avoid the head-scratchingly bad and confusing link like that.

I remember the thread Hot, I just don't think I bothered to participate in it because I don't use the feature at all like that.

.... wow. lol. I stand by my Ew.

Alright appreciate the help, I agree that is a horrible way to do the link when a lot of people immediately dismiss it as a scam.

Chat invites are the same. Valve has been using the s.team link shortener for a while now.

its legit, its quick invite links.
Steam PM stands for profile minifier. It was created by a Valve employee I believe. (Assuming this is what the OP meant in 2019).

It's useful and we have it in our subreddit of r/Steam where you're guided how to generate a link.

I don't know why this was necro'd anyway
