Cannot purchase anything

Tried various payment methods to no avail. Only states that an unexpected problem has occurred and now I'm locked out for trying too many times. Is something going on in the background?

Sounds like nearly all, if not completely all, payments through or to Steam are bugged. Ooh think of all the sweet cash they´re missing out on.

That said, hope they fix it soon.

As for sending support requests. I would think the bean counters at Steam are fully aware of the problem "Gotta have that sweet consumer money."
Very strange no comments from Steam on this.

From what people are saying on here, multiple payment methods are being affected, not to mention the number of people experiencing problems with payments not going through. You would think, that if nothing else, plummeting sales would grab Steams attention even if they do completely disregard reports from Steam members.

Having the same issue, paypal got stuck and now it tells me I have a pending transaction...

Steam support responded to me with a fairly lengthy post. The tl;dr is pretty much "Try again and take a screenshot of the issue you're having, only then will we investigate further. Also try contacting support of PayPal and whatever game you tried to make in-game purchases with."

Figured it out, go here and cancel the pending transactions then just try to purchase again with a different payment method, visa worked for me.

I managed to get my failing purchase with PayPal to work by removing the item from my saved cart and then re-adding it to my cart as normal. I thought I'd mention this in case it helps anyone else. Though I may have just being lucky.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on my PayPal account for any double charges, with all the purchasing issues that appear to be occurring on the Steam store at the moment.

Unfortunately not everyone has a different payment method, myself included. Still, cool for the ones that do, I guess.

Hmm.. I doubt that works with adding funds to Steam Wallet as there's no cart, but hopefully that's a functional workaround for buying games/DLC for the time being.

go to steam support and cancel the transactions. That's what i had to do. You will also have to wait until the cooldown between purchases is over (it's 30 seconds unless you have been spamming that buy button, in which case it is more like an hour.)
