A brand new PS4 controller is not recognized by Windows 10
I just got a new PS4 controller after the old one's d-pad started getting a bit dodgy. Windows 10 fails to recognize the USB-device as a controller and claims it to be "an unknown usb-device". I have tried everything from updating the drivers to messing around with the usb power saving features. I have also reset the controller using the small button near the bottom left screw. The previous controller is identified just fine but the new one isn't. I tried connecting it to my laptop and it immediately installed all of the necessary drivers in a matter of seconds. I don't use DS4 because I haven't had a need for it. Any help would be appreciated.

So you maybe have to update its firmware first? I had to do that with my XBOS gamepad to get it working via BT.
Also, see if installing PSNow helps. Its the official way to use PS gamepads on PCs.

I found this by checking out the device manager and checking the unknown device's properties. Any insight on what this means?
