As you have a general problem, it may have a simple cause and a simple solution.
Have you updated to the Fall Creator's update before the problems started?
If yes, try updating all your drivers. Do not rely on Windows, do it yourself.
If that doesn't help, try disabling resolution scaling in the nVidia Control Panel.
Is there a discord to find people to help with these technical issues? I emailed the devs for Punch Club, and messaged them on twitter, and they haven't written back. I just want to play some games, but I'm left with just struggling to get them to work.
This just worked for me to get Punch Club to work. If Warlock of Firetop Mountain doesn't work, I'll reply again about it.
In that link I followed the first replies steps.
You will need to start your own thread, with your own system specs info added, to get any proper hepl.
the issue: the game would start but goes to black screen. however you can still hear the audio and even interact with the menu's with the mouse or controller.
the cause: for me this was happening simply because the game was launching in a different resolution than my monitor/TV. as a result, the game would run and audio worked fine but I got no picture.
the solution: If this is the problem for you, than all you need to do is right click on the game in your steam library, then left click on "properties". left click on the "launch options" bar. then type
-screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080
but change the width and height numbers to match your monitor/TV's resolution. click O.K and then launch the game.
Hope this helps!
1. Go to the game exe file (go to Programs x86 > Steam > Steamapps > common > "game name" folder)
2. Right-click on the exe file and go to properties
3. Under properties, go to compatibility
4. Under compatibility, check "disable fullscreen optimizations"
I think my issue has been that the games run in a different resolution than my computer. It wasn't something that caused issue before, but it has begun to and this seems to be the fix for me. Hope this helps anyone out there who just spent an hour googling this.
