External ssd shouldn't be an issue if using usb 3.0 or 3.1. If the ssd is capable of above the sata speeds, like an external nvme drive, use usb 3.1
Just make sure hdd sleep timer is disabled in OS power plan and that it gets connected before launching game client, if game to be played is on that external drive. As and that drive doesn't get turned off or disconnected while such game client is running.
And what you've been looking at is fake I can assure you. Do not buy that please.
I concur. It is a scam.
Stuff like this has been in the news for a while...
https://www.tomsguide.com/news/walmart-has-a-30tb-ssd-for-dollar39-dont-fall-for-this-scam
https://www.pcworld.com/article/917860/beware-this-phony-30-tb-portable-ssd-sold-on-walmart-com.html
https://www.techradar.com/news/dont-buy-this-30tb-ssd-from-walmart-its-almost-certainly-a-fake
It looks like a NVME SSD sized casing, even has a USB Type-C on it.
Until you crack it open and see it's a small PCB with two MicroSD cards.
Not only that, it was easy to know it was cheap junk; as it only got around 10-18MB/s transfer speeds.
REAL 8TB SSDs are over $300+ so please, do not fall for these scams.
If the drive does not have a model# you can go verify from an actual brand name, and this brand name should be a company whom which you can go buy stocks in. Then do not buy it; it's that simple.
