I activated a steam code for endless legend, and it now says duplicate code, but I don't have the game?
I began installing the game after using the code, and left it to install. but when i came back and checked, there was no sign of the game in my library. So I entered the code again, and it just keeps telling me my code is a duplicate. Help?

Look at your games list on your profile. If the game appears there you own it and it should be somewhere in your library.
Cant check myself since your profile is private.

There was no need. Once you activate a licence on your account; it is bound to it permanently. You can then install the game from your library at any time assuming you are signed into the account that owns the licence. If you were able to buy the game again; you clearly didn't own it on the account you were signed into as you can't own a game twice on the same account.

I dont know how else i can explain this.
I bought a code for the game, i tried to use it, and left it installing. When i came back it wasnt there. i looked everywhere, and it was not in my library at all. I tried to reuse the code, and i was told the code had already been used and that it didnt belong to me. No one else saw this code but me.

Wheer did you 'buy' the code from

Also post the EXACT message you're getting when re-registering the code

https://store.steampowered.com/account/licenses/

Also does your activation show up here

Finally because this is important

Do you have ANOTHER STEAM ACCOUNT. Think VERY HARD on this.

I 'bought' the code directly from iceberg interactive on amazon, and the code was sent to me. the message 'The product code you've entered has already been activated by a different steam account'. I do not have another account, only this one. I have dont the exact same thing again, i bought another code, and used it. but it worked this time. I however, would still like to find out why the first code and game basically disappeared.

If you were sent a used code; how come you added to your account and it started installing as stated in your OP? It sounds like you added the code to an account, started installing, lost access to the account, signed into another account and couldn't find the game, bought it again, added that to the new account you were using.

Licences do not vanish into thin air. They can be redeemed once on an account and are then bound to it permanently unless it is revoked or you remove it.

I. Do. Not. Have. Another. Account.
So, stop that there. It was definitely this account where it started. You can say it doesnt disappear but i cant think of another word to describe it.

Enter the code again and when the message comes up, choose to send an email to the account that activated the game. Then, check your emails for that.

Could be some steam server errors. I didn't get a card when voting today, not really similar though.

Not similar at all. You don't even come close to geting the message the OP does when the servers are acting up.

I knew it was a far out suggestion.

Duplicate only means 1 thing and that is all.

If you don't have another account then it is impossible to activate two keys of the same game on the same account. The whole situation does not make sense and the only explanation is you have more than one account bound to the same email address. We see cases like these on a daily basis where users swear blind they only have one and a few hours later it turns out they have between 2 and 10 that they don't know they created.

Going back to the start; if you bough a code and activated it on an account, you wouldn't need to buy another one and if you did; it wouldn't work as you will already own the game. By your own admission, you said you tried to enter the code again which said it was a duplicate so that means it was redeemed by you on (one of) your account(s)

This is the proof

'The product code you've entered has already been activated by a different steam account'
And that message comes from you and shows you activated it on another account. If you tried to enter the code on the same account; it would say 'this account already owns the game you are trying to add'.
