HTC Vive, How to turn off?
Hello. I got a HTC Vive. Works very fine. But I woundring. How to turn off headsett/glasses and base stations correctly?
When I close the VRsteam app, the headsett glasses goes black.
And then I turn off the computer. The headsett are still black, but the green light on the side is on.
Is that okay? When the glasses is black and a little green light on the side? Or must I unplug the powercable to the box between the pc and headsett? Or can that always stay whit the power cabel in the wall?

On the base stations I always pull out the power cable. My computer don’t have bluetooth. Is that the only way to turn off the base’s then??

Somebody that can help me?
Vive don't rly have the turn off feature. It's on all the the time.
You have 2 options, unplugging or let the vive go in to standby mode(when not used)

*For the standby, check your settings.
SteamVR -> Settings -> General and enable bluetooth communication & put base in standby.

So I don’t do anything wrong when I unplugg the powercable to base’s and headsett?
But, is it okay to NOT unplugg the headsett? How did I know when is it in standby or not? When the glasses is black it is in standby?

And the only way for me without bluetooth to turn off the bases is to unplugg the powercable?
Steam VR Bluetooth Fix for Windows 10 (might work on Windows 7 as well) for the VIVE.

1) Go into device manager on your OS and make sure all Bluetooth Devices are all removed. If it's using Windows for Bluetooth it's not going to work. Some motherboards may need the bluetooth interface disabled in the BIOS settings.
2) Start Steam VR software.
3) Click on SteamVR drop down menu and select settings.
4) Click on install Bluetooth driver. Finish the installation.
5) Go to device manager and your Bluetooth Devices should only show
"BCM20703 Bluetooth 4.1 USB Device"
6) Reboot your PC
7) Start Steam VR software
8) Click on SteamVR drop down menu and select settings. Click on "Enable Bluetooth communication" and "Put Base Station in Standby mode when VR is not in use."
9) Pull out power from base stations and then re-connect power.
10) Click on SteamVR drop down menu and select devices "Reboot Vive headset"

You can either try to test right away or do another reboot just to get the OS clean.

Now your base stations and everything should shutdown when VR is not in use. They should start up once the Steam VR software starts. You may get some messages for things not working when starting Steam VR because it takes a few moments for the base stations to either shutdown or start back up.

Note: When the base stations are up they will show green and orange LEDs on them. When they go to sleep it will should show just one green light and no longer be able to hear them.

Should be good to go

Yeah, don't do that. Get the bluetooth working. The software turning on and off should control power to all your VR devices once setup right. :) The controllers you'll have to turn on once the software is started and the software should turn everything off once it exits.

dont worry about that green light it is just a way to say the headset is in standby mode and is properly connected and ready to be back on,
the display are fully turned off while in standby mode so it doesnt do any harm
mine sometime goes red because i unplug my vive often and move it alot to family so it alway need to be recalibrated
Okay, thanks for all the help. The headsett is now always plugged in the power outlet.
But about the base stations, I don’t think my pc have bluetooth, the base’s will not turn off.
Then my question, do I something wrong if I only unplugg the base’s when I am finish gaming?
Is it bad for the base station to unplugg the power? Instead for using bluetooth? I have a power outlet with remote controll to the base’s, so I can turn on and off the power that way. But can the Base’s take any damages, when the power is turn on or off that way? Maybe I shooting it down wrong? What do the people meen?
If you have the vive, you have bluetooth. It connects them through the link box.(pretty sure that's where it connects) Go into your SteamVR settings. scroll down to the bottom in General. click the button for install bluetooth drivers, then tick the boxes for enable bluetooth connection and put base stations in standby mode when not in use.

if you have a remote to shut off the power at the outlet, I don't think that'll cause issues. heard of plenty of people doing it that way, or even just unplugging them. For me it would be a hassle to get to the plugs every time I want to use it.

I have tried that, but the linkbox is back the computer, I wil try to move it, and see if the base’s is shutted down then. The link box is putted away in the corner, because I dont know that the bluetooth is in that box :) I try later to day, and come back to you ;) Thanks again
Now I think everything Works. When I Close SteamVR, the headsett light get black inside, no Picture. And the Controls turn off. And the Base`s stops after 30-60sek. But I have a green light on the side off the headsett, and a light on the base`s on the top. But the engine inside has stopped, and the channals display is gone.
Is everythings okay then? Can I just leave the computer for 1-2days With Things like that?
yep that sounds like everything is in standby mode, good to go
Thanks for all the help then =)
One more thing, I have not change any values in settings to the Vive. Is it something that’s worth changing? In the SteamVR app, I just see that is something thats can changes, for maybe better performance? I got EVGA FTW 1080 card.
