Help - Cannot create a new account for family member and cannot figure how to send a support ticket.

Got my son his first computer and want to get him a steam account so we can play together. I've been trying all day, and all I get after filling in the required pages is "There is a problem creating your steam account. Please try again later." I've left hours of time between attempts, I've tried through the client, I've tried the web portal with different browers, a different computer, uninstalled and reinstalled the client with restarts and tried again, and always the same message.

I cannot find any indication that the servers are down, so I have to assume the problem is from my end. I've tried the support faqs, but they just go in a circle and I can't figure out how to create a support account or submit a ticket.

So, to sum up:

1. What am I doing wrong to create an account? (and please note, I'm using a different email than mine so there would be no problem with two accounts on the same email)

2. How the blazes do I send a ticket to Steam Support?

Others have been getting the same message randomly throughout the past few days. It is not only you.

after a quick look i see no way to register a new steam support account, so currently, if you have no access to your steam account and do not have an existing support accounts ... well, you are basicly out of options if every option here:

at the time of testing some of these option just load endlessly so i dont know if you can write a ticket there without being logged in. so .. teatime and wait.

Also, I believe since the 18th of Aug. Steam no longer enabled the option to create Steam Support accounts. Try going here to get in contact with Steam Support: https://help.steampowered.com/en/

re: Support Accounts - Well that explains that part at least, I'll stop trying to create one. Thanks to both of you. The help link unfortunately just takes me in circles and doesn't have a topic on problems creating new accounts.

999 - Is there any indication of what to do if you are caught in this error? Is it just a matter of wait til tomorrow and try again, or do we need to find a different user name or email address?

It would tell you if the username is taken already or not one you can use. The email should be alright as they can even be used for multiple accounts.

No, the only thing other users tried was, well, trying again. They eventually got it working. Sorry.

Just my two cents into this, could be a influx of new users from christmas time that are all making new accounts and with steam being wonky as usual ( pretty old code even though they are trying to uppgrade) so I think the best course of action is to bunker down untill things stabalize
