spacewar

So i've seen people playing spacewar on my steam so I found out how to download it so I did. But now I'm wondering if I will get banned for it because someone said it is pirated. Anyone know?

It is not a pirated game. It is a developers tool that pirates use to play pirated games through it.

It's a developer tool, you're not going to get banned for using it. You will get a lot of people talking ♥♥♥♥ and making baseless bad faith accusations towards you though. My advice if you're going to try it is to install it with the command, then set it to private from your Library, you could also restrict your Games visibility but setting individual games to private is better. You could also block everyone who lashes out and makes accusations but that can get tiring. Best to just avoid the problem altogether.

Marking the game Private was not a thing back in 2017 when this thread was last posted in.

It was added in the mainline branch in March 2024.
