Never Chargeback a Game! Steam Support Sucks sooooo Bad

I purchased a game and played for 4 hours, not knowing about the 2 hour rule and asked for a refund. Well of course they refused the refund and I did what I now know is the worst thing to do. I called my credit card and got a refund.
My account got promptly locked and I contacted Steam Support. The told me basiclly screw yourself and you have to wait. I told them that I purchased a game outside of Steam, but it required Steam to download, and they basiclly told me to screw myself a second time.
On a third contact with Steam, the guy say either reverse the chargeback of your account will remained locked for the time. This was originally 4 weeks, but now after the last contact with them, my account is now locked for 9 weeks saying there is an unauthorized purchse.

This is complete garbage that one company can control where you can download games and when you can. Steam is complete garbage but you cannot purchase many online game without the hostage takers Steam!

How many others have been held hostage by Steam? Lets sound off and tell them this is unacceptable to prevent us from purchasing games and playing them online!

So you abused the chargeback system by committing fraud because you fell outside of the refund policy? Not smart. Not only will your payment method be banned from Steam permanenty; it'll also be flagged for life and this information will be shared to retailers when you attempt to purchase something online. Well done.

Also you have 9 weeks to reverse the chargeback else your Steam account will likely be permanently locked.

That's too bad for you. When you issue a chargeback, Steam is charged a fee which they do not get back even if you reverse the chargeback. You cost them money.

It's not about Steam holding your account hostage. What would you do if a customer did that to you? If a customer went into your store and bought a game for $20, then issued a chargeback which costs you $5 even if they reverse the $20 chargeback, would you just smile and say "Thank you for being a good customer?"

Your actions are "complete garbage", not Steam.

They even asked you to cancel chargeback so your would unlock. You refused.

Wow, way to be a jerk.

Making a chargeback is something you only do if you've been robbed. Not robbed as in "I bought something I didn't want," but genuinely robbed as in someone stole your credit card and has been charging thousands of dollars to your card.

It is an absolute last resort, and for good reason. Steam is not the only service which would ban you over using Chargeback when you did not, in fact, have your card stolen - Blizzard, Nexon, EA, Ubisoft would have all banned your arse.

I think he means he bought a second game outside of steam, but isn't allowed to activate it because of the first game he charged back. Locked accounts can't activate keys.

1. He did the chargeback and his account is now locked.

2. Subsequently, he obtained a game outside of Steam which must be activated on Steam but now he cannot activate said game due to the chargeback.

OP may well have purchased a game outside of Steam. Seems like a realistic situation to me.
