Steam gift card error

I recently got a gift card, but each time I enter the code I keep getting an invalid code message, and I have tried it in lower case, upper case which is how it is on the card, and I have also tried it with the dashes on the card as well, both upper and lower case, and I still get an invalid code message. I have already tried Steam Help, but its not telling me anything that I find relevant to my situation. What do I do?

In many places (or most of them) you have to activate gift card when buying (it's protection agains thiefs). Maybe card was stolen from shop, or seller didn't activate it ?

First off make sure it is entered correctly and make sure you bought the card properly and if those don’t work it has already been used

Hi there. If the codes dont work at first, make sure you have entered the code correctly. If you have, then you can do one of two things. You can either wait for some time, and then try again, or that code has already been used and you will have to buy another one. Hope this helps.
