Steam stuck on Allocating Disk Space

So I've just bought Sims 3 bundle, containing Pets, Generations and Seasons

Anyway, trying to download it. It all starts up fine, it installs fully. But it gets stuck on the last 10 percent of the allocating disk space window. While the game continues to download.

I tried almost everything, clearing Steam's download cache, switching download region, restarting my pc / Steam.

I hope anyone can help me.

try restarting your computer whilst it is stuck. After it is done installing, yet you are still tuck on it, restart it then. It worked for me after I read that it worked for others as well :)

HOLY CRAP!! I am having the exact same issue! I rebooted her machine several times, uninstalled and re-installed Steam, even reinstalled Windows 10 as a Clean Install. No joy. It's driving me crazy!! This is ridiculous for there to be this many issues installing a game that's this common and old.

Anyone who is still stuck with allocating the files, just restart the download from scratch, then go to steam - setting - downloads and clear the cache WHILE downloading the game.
it will exit steam, and when you log back in it'll download the game without the window.

however, steam doesn't have enough keys from EA, we need to wait

1. I started downloading the game (Sims 3), it started downloading and the annoying message came up.
2. Then i clicked up in the left corner on Steam > Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache. (make sure you do this when your game is actually downloading and the pop up is up!)
3. When accepting this i had to restart/relog into Steam (this is the fix, so do it).
4. When you have relogged the download will resume, but the "Allocating disc space" message will be gone!

The keys are out guys :) restart steam, view cd keys

Well keys are usually generated by an algorithm but this is an EA game, so I think it's a case of EA passing the keys over to Valve.

Unfortunately nothing from Steam support though, I'm not sure how long they usually take, don't have to deal with them often, but it is Christmas. It does suck, worst case scenario, we can always refund the game!

Right now the keys are generated for me! I can play :D
