Latest Steam client blocking replacement xinput dll's (x360CE no longer working)?
This seemed to have just started happening recently. Last time I played Assassins Creed 1 and Binary Domain, since I have a wireless 360 controller and they only work properly with the wired, you need to use X360CE to get them to properly map the axes. Easy enough fix, drop them in the game folder with the xinput1_3.dll and away you go.

Now however, for *any* Steam game, I can't get this to work - even with other xinput dll replacement apps. 32 or 64 bit, various versions of the xinput - it seems Steam is hijacking any Xinput calls and not allowing the game to use the replacement DLL.

I'm fingering Steam for this as this works in any other non-steam game. Origin games or GOG games, boom - I get the x360CE acknowledgment chime right away which never comes when the game is launched with Steam. I've tried with 360 support enabled and disabled in big picture, no difference. Also tried the latest Steam beta with no difference.

Anyone else? Can you get X360CE working?

What does CE mean?
What are the differences microsoft implemented in wired and wireless?

Its strange enough that many games require an xbox controller on pc, and now i read this.
It's an app to emulate 360 controllers. There is no difference between the wired and wirelsss in 99% of games but some older games were programmed to look for the specific hardware ID of the wired 360 controller and treat the wireless like another Directinput controller, which screws up the trigger mappings. The 360CE app basically tricks the game into seeing a standard 360 wired controller.

If it worked before, i would contact steam support
Oh that make sense because none of my generic USB joystick work anymore.

I tried big screen config nonetheless it helps.
Though some said there's some issues there.
Same problem here! My Logitech G27 stopped work after two updates
Firts: Microsoft win 10 update
Second: Steam update
I use X360CE to play GTA5
Can you update the driver in hardware manager of windows?
Is there a yellow sign next to the device entry?
No issues in windows device entry !!
Unbelievable how unbearable these problems are.
Unlikely to be the same issue as the OP's considering the thread is over 6 months old.
