Nvidia Graphics Card won't work while laptop is on battery!

I recently bought a gaming laptop. When I try to play games while my laptop is charging my fps is fine but as soon as I leave my laptop on battery the frames drop drastically. I think that the laptop automatically changes the graphics card from nvidia to intel whenever it is running on battery but that doesn't make any sense. I've set my batter to high performance and everytime I play a game I make sure to right-click on it and select "Run on High-performance processor". Yet it still chooses the intel graphics card over the NVidia. So what is there left to do or is it that I can't play on my NVidia graphics card if the laptop is not plugged in?

You can choose what graphics to use via the bios. It will usually either let you disable integrated graphics or switch default graphics to your card.

There is an option in the geforce control panel.

Go to manage 3d settings > global settings > Preferred graphics processor

The thing is that I don't wanna use my NVidia graphics card for everything but gaming. I have a brand new gaming laptop that I don't wanna put to waste. Also, I don't wanna fry my battery like the last one.

I am always traveling, so a desktop wouldn't do me any good xD. So what you are basically saying is...there is NO way that I can play on Nvidia graphics card if I don't have my laptop plugged in? Then, can you explain to me why is that the case?

Nvidia control panel might have something, I vaguely recall it advertising some game optimization procedure. Possibly under power settings since it changes to the onboard graphics to prolong battery life (the nvidia card will drain the battery significantly quicker than the onboard)

You can try asking somewhere more specific to the laptop. As far as I know there's no universal setting to set the graphics cards for specific programs.

I went to Best Buy to talk with the Geek Squad but for everything I ask, they wanted to charge me for an answer. I don’t wanna mess with the NVIDIA Control Panel anymore only to disconfigure it. Also, I get where the nerd at Geek Squad was coming from since I can’t find anything in the internet that would solve my problem. Almost all things I found where either too general or unrelated. Please somebody help me out telling me if it is possible to use Nvidia graphics without having to fry my battery!

with most laptop MFRS, because the nvidia cards eat so much power and require so much cooling, they default OFF when on battery, sorry1

So then can I change this "setting" in the bios?
