It is less about the bandwidth and more about the constant irritation caused by lazy unprofessional devs.
They should do it like Factorio does it. They have separate branches for each version for beta testing and they stay on that version number.
All this is done via the beta branch thing in Steam, you can even downgrade to older versions if you want. Right now I'm on an older version since i forgot about it.
They kind of have to do this since patches break existing things they built but all devs could do this I suppose.
This might be trickier with getting servers to stay on a version and all that but ask them to do this.
