PC Builds for gaming
So I got 2 PC builds here. Wanted to get some opinions on which one I should use mainly for gaming and another one will give to my parents. One is few years old and one is recently built

Build 1:
Intel i7-3820 (Watercooled)
Asus Rampage IV Gene
Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
MSI GTX 780 3GB x2 (in SLI)
Corsair RX750W

Build 2:
Intel i5-6500 (Stock heat sink)
Gigabyte h110m-a
Hyper X 16GB DDR4 2133MHz
MSI RX 480 8GB
EVGA 500W

I can’t decide which one I should keep consider one is pretty old but powerful and another is recent but not as powerful. So I wanted to get some opinions from you guys

2nd one but takes the 1st pc PSU.
i am not sure myself which one is better i5-6500 or i73820 since i only know the recent gen on 2016-2017.
also DDR4 all the way which on the 2nd PC if you do compression and digital editing alot.
RX480 with massive cores all the way though rx have compability issues on some tittles.

Why would you suggest he take the one with the slower cpu. You got that all backwards

I'd say it's due to compatibility. Depending on what OP want to use it for, most games are leaning to single GPU performance vs the CPU. Plus DDR4 means future builds aren't gonna be as expensive, no?

@OP, ask in the Hardware forum. They'll be much better suited to help with this query.

Ram doesn't improve your gaming in any significant way. Order of importance is graphics card then CPU. Also you need an SSD for quick loads especially for modern huge games. :hellangel_worm::BlackKitty:

Generally new motherboards, i.e. newer CPUs don't support older versions of RAM, so it'll lower eventual upgrade costs. But your assessment is correct GPU first. And a single good GPU is better than SLI of older ones, majorly due to games sometimes not supporting SLI. RAM overall does improve gaming, hence the requirement for more on newer games, but that effects amount, which isn't an issue here. The RAM frequency does give slight boosts in fps, but not enough to worry about.

RX 480 is fine, never had any compatibility issues. And it rocks on dx12 games (according to its price ofc, no comparison with 1070 or 1080)

1070 still takes over rx 480.
RX580 pretty much at the moment not sure why but its dead stuck there and for gaming due price 1070 would be abetter option than 580.

Well CPU wise amd had the best budget build which force intel to make the 8th generation which still got owned by amd in terms of budget build which is Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5.

i am kinda hoping rx 70/80 return to their base price but ruined by the miners which makes me swear that mining thing will die.

That's what i meant. that 1070 (and ofcourse 1080) are much better in performance than 480. I guess i wrote it wrong...
