Can private profiles still trade cards?

private profile only means they are not letting others see their profile, nothing more. has no effect on the accounts ability to trade

You can't generate a public trade link with a private profile but you can still make trades with people in your friendslist.

But when I set my profile to private it sets my inventory to private also and it seems it is no longer public.

Only visually, as stated, and if what you want to do is SHOW a link to a trade, you'll have to keep it public.

I'd suggest: only trade with actual friends on your friends list rather than openly.

Not sure about the first part but anyone with a private profile can use someone else's trade link with no issues, meaning they can trade with anyone in a trading subforum.
