My PS4 and PS3 controllers will not start games in big picture mode

Please help!

My title is only scratching the surface of this issue.

I'm at wits end. I've uninstalled steam and re-installed, I've reset and uninstalled drivers from device manager 100 times, re-installed Playstation Now repeatedly. I can't seem to solve this.

This is going to be difficult, I hope someone is an expert out there.

More in depth explanation:

I am using wired DualShock 3 controller (brand name, not knockoff) and a DualShock 4 controller. This is occurring for both controllers and this issue is fairly sudden.

PlayStation 3 Controller Info

* Identifies as PlayStation DualShock 3 and works properly in joy.cpl calibration test.
* Starting big picture mode I can fully navigate the entire UI except start the game. When I try starting the game, it makes the sound effect that a button is pressed, but nothing happens.

PlayStation 4 Controller Info

* Identifies as wireless controller and works properly in joy.cpl calibration test.
* SAME AS ABOVE. Starting big picture mode I can fully navigate the entire UI except start the game. When I try starting the game, it makes the sound effect that a button is pressed, but nothing happens.

Edit: To be clear in the above video, whenever the "Play" button is highlighted in big picture mode, I am mashing the playstation X button trying to start the game. It's making "ding ding ding" noises but nothing is happening. I didn't show it in the video, but if I click "Play" with the mouse or hit "Enter", the game begins loading

For me it works, just letting you know I'm on the Steam beta side, but I don't think that should be the case, but worth knowing, and might be worth trying as well.

i have the same problem and i use steam gamepads
half of the game in my library (that i tested) is not able to start
so i think it is not about the gamepad
the irony is that some of the game were not able to start, i uninstalled them (from bigpicture mode) and now they are not even installing
