Revoking Steam's Mic permissions

So this is the polar opposite of "My mic doesn't work" topics. I've encountered a problem where on some games, Steam accesses my mic every 4 seconds (I dont even have my mic plugged in) and causes games, and steam itself to jitter every 4 seconds. Just a tiny hiccup but it causes games to jump and even typing to freeze momentarily. I know ages ago you could literally disable steam's mic access in the settings, but that has been moved to the Friends List (it took me a while to find they moved mic settings into a separate window, wtf, Steam) and mic access can't actually be revoked, just set to "Push to Talk" which doesn't solve the problem.

I can disable all app access through Windows 10 settings, but I can't disable individual programs, so either I get Jitters every 4 seconds, or no mic in discord or any program. Is there any way to disable steam from trying to access my mic. Like flat out stop it. I can't even set my input device to "None" like in the old days.

I don't want steam to have control of my mic at all. It is the obvious problem when using discord or my streamlabs. It takes complete control and is defo the reason it's ****ed. STEAM FIX THIS. WHY CAN'T WE DISABLE OUR MICROPHONE ON YOUR PLATFORM? DID YOU THINK PEOPLE WEREN'T GOING TO NOTICE. SUS!

i have the same problem, everytime i try to launch a game, it will immediately turn on my microphone. I tried turning off EVERYTHING in the access area from control panel, no other app has permission, not even Steam, yet it still opens up.
The only way i manage to bypass it is by removing my headseat with mic included and use some standard earphones. It is getting ridiculous at this point.

Bump, This ♥♥♥♥ is F#$%$#% obnoxious. Like the other people said its not a necro if it is still relevant. Which it is because windows and steam devs are incompetent.

a work around for me was start a voice chat in steam chat let it run in the back ground

so,ive found a temp-fix: in any game where the jittering occurs due to the mic usage, just launch a steam voicechat with who'ever you're playin with,and mute eachother on said steam voicechat

its not a great fix but hey,it works,now playin iron rain with my friend~

You can allow or revoke access through windows settings.
Don't let windows allow just any app to use the mic.
Allow discord and revoke steam.
