External Hard Drive unplugged after sometime when downloading steam games (DISK WRITE ERROR)
I bought an external HDD 3 days ago, and i will use this hard drive to save any new game i will buy on steam. I created a folder named 'Steam' inside the external HDD and went to steam , settings , downloads, steam library folders and added the new folder i created before and made it as default. I tried to download Arma 3 but after 1-5 minutes my external HDD gets unplugged and of course the download stops. The reason that the download gets paused is because of
'DISK WRITE ERROR'. Please guys need some help with this i tried anything i searched everywhere but the same problem happens.

It's very strongly not recommended to use external harddrives with steam. Use the internal drive(s) and copy non-essential stuff on the external drive.

Of course you get a disk write error when the disk stops working and shuts itself off.

disable in power management settings suspend
Control Panel \ All Control Panel Items \ Power \ Change settings for the plan \ Change advanced power settings - Hard Drive - Disable the drive through - Never
+
devmgmt.msc - USB devices - Power management tab - untick Enable to turn off this device to save power for all USB devices
but you will allways use same usb port + drive letter - othervise you regular get your game "not installed" in library
