32 bit
Recently I got a new gaming laptop, but a lot of games keep crashing on it. When I went to task manager to shut down a game because my laptop was frozen due to it, i noticed that my steam is 32 bit. When I checked the games requirements, I saw that it needed 64 bit. What does that mean? Can I switch my steam to 64 bit?

No, it means you need Windows 64bit. As long as your Windows is 64bit you are fine.
Steam is always a 32bit application.

Your Windows licence includes the ability to use both 32 and 64bit versions, May I ask what OS you have installed?

The simple answer to the difference is that 64bit operating systems can address more system resources. For example 32bit Windows can't use more than 4GB of RAM.

Where do I check this information?

Open control panel and navigate to system.

Yeah, I just found it. I have a 64 bit operating system, but I don't know why all the games keep crashing :(

What are the rest of your specs?

If the games required a 64-bit operating system, and you had a 32-bit operating system, they would not launch at all. The fact that you get to crashing means it's not due to your operating system being 32-bit vs. 64-bit.

See Troubleshooting Game Crashes.

You have a nice high-end laptop there, games shouldn't be crashing. One reason could be a corrupt OS install or the crappy bloatware you get with laptops these days. A fresh install of windows anyway might be a nice idea.

First though, uninstall your GPU drivers and make a fresh install.

You mean I should wipe everything and re-install windows?

Try reinstalling your GPU drivers first, they could be the culprit.

DDU is a nice freeware application that will totally remove all traces of your current driver install - http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
