Game stuck in a loop when I press 'play'
Hi,

So recently I've been playing Oblivion and up to today when I've tried to run it, it just hasn't worked. When I either press 'play' from the library tab in the Steam, or press on the icon on my desktop, I get the screen many of you will be familiar with.
This screen allows me to look at data files for mods and stuff, change the game's settings, go to Elderscrolls.com, get technical support, uninstall Oblivion, or of course, play the game.
So I press play, where I'd expect the actual game to load up. Instead, the message 'preparing to launch Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivon' appears, and this then leads to the same screen as before appearing, with the options to play, change what mods I'm using, etc etc.
This keeps happening whenever I try to actually play the game.
Hopefully, someone can understand what I'm talking about. I realise this probably isn't the greatest description.

It is also worthwhile knowing I use Windows 10, and this was a game made in 2006, so some issues might arise there with the operating system, although I haven't experienced this before.

Any help would be appreciated.

Read the FAQ about the problem: Games do not run after 'Preparing to Launch' (Link)

Thanks for both of the replies. I've already tried the stuff on the FAQ but to no avail.
However, I have got it working somehow. I restarted my machine once and still had the same problem, so I decided to restart again once I'd finished making this post and it has suddenly started working. I've noticed that it won't work unless I load the game from Steam, rather than my desktop icon.

I don't think it's anything to do with monitors because it's a laptop that I use, but thanks for the help anyway.
