Why can't I buy a bundle as a gift?

Hello,

So, I have been trying to buy Danganronpa 1 + 2 as a gift for someone, but Steam won't let me, as it says they are "personalized to my account." I don't understand this. I don't own these games, either. Why can't I gift the bundle? Thank you!

You cannot gift bundles as it is tailored for your account and your account only. Whether you already own them or not, that is how it works.

That is how bundles are intended to work, simply for your own account.

I understand that might be the case, but that also seems rather arbitrary--there is no logic to it that I can tell. "Just because" is not a reason.

The reason is that you have some games from the bundle already or are eligible for a discount due to some other reason (i.e. you have a game that from the same publisher). Steam users asked Valve to tailor bundles for them, Valve listened.

But I didn't have any games from that bundle, nor any games from that publisher. What is the explanation in that case? The bundle is on account of the Steam winter sale.

There is a different between bundles (cannot be gifted, offer bigger discounts) and packages (can be gifted, normal pricing) in the store.

It's up to the developer to add either one or both if they choose to sell games that way. If the bundle you want to buy has no package option, it's on the developer, and you should try contacting them to ask about it.

Along that same vein, why can't I add a bundle to my wishlist? That way I could be notified when it is on sale, and my friends could see what I am interested in (and, potentially, buy it for me).

Bundles do not go on sale since they are minorly discounted to begin with.

It is only during a sale of one or a few games contained within a bundle, that the price will then be adjusted.

i have the same problem i want to buy outlast trinity for a friend but it will not let me but it will let me buy lego batman trilogy for a friend so i dont understand that

The decision what to sell and what not to sell in a bundle is made by the developers/publishers, not Valve.

There are 2 types of bundles

1. Fixed bundle (which can be gifted)
2. Tailored bundle (which can't be)

Dev;s decide how they want to set it up and they chose a tailored bundle which gives you items based on what you already have.
