Steam Family Library Sharing
I created an account for my daughter as she wants to play some of the game I bought on my account. As I don't play them at this moment I don't mind her to play them but it doesn't seems to work.

What I did:
1. I went to my account on her computer and activated the Family Library Sharing.
2. I selected the games I don't play on my computer and added them to the shared games.
3. I Authorized her computer and her account to use the games i shared.
4. I logged in on her account and installed the games

The problem is that now she has only a button to buy the game instead of playing it.
I made sure that the games are even uninstalled on my computer but it is still the same result.
Any idea how i can fix this?

Or can't she play any game while i am logged in on my computer and play non-shared games?
I guess this should be possible as I play game A which is not shared and she wants to play game B that is shared but is not installed on my computer.
Or am I missing something here?

It would be nice if i can make this work because then i can do it for my second daughter too.
i know we can't play the same game at the same time but that is ok but right now she can't even play a game i don't have installed :/

Any advice is appreciated.

You cant share just specific games. With family share the whole library gets shared or nothing.
Family View to restrict certain games for children does not work with family share.
Also she can only play games as long as you are not using your account.
The moment you log into your account your daughter gets kicked out of any game she is playing via family share.

Hmm ok so it is pretty stupid to use this family sharing as you can't play both at the same time even with other games?

That's not true. It's the moment he starts playing a game himself.

But yes, you can't play a game at the same time. Steam family sharing came out the same time as the Steam boxes and was intended more as a consolized version of sharing, with the thought that you'd be using the same device but would want your own progress/achievements.

Ya well logged in or play anorhter game is more or less the same problem as you need to log in to play ;)
But family sharing is not realy helpfull if it checks if the account is logged in.
It would be a lot better they allow ppl to play different games at the same time.
I don't mind she plays my old games while i play the new ones but if i can't play at all while she playsthen it is not helpfull at all.

Yeah, the best option is always to buy games for her if she really wants to play them. It's still usefull for when you're not around though without her having to use your actual account/saves/achievements etc.

I guess the only advantage of this is to be able to test if the game is running fine on the other computer before buying it. Or for ppl that are not playing a lot at the same time but as i do play a lot it is not a solution for us.

Thx for the info guys.
