They weren't hacked, they got ddos-d. Totally different, like someone picking your locks to enter your home and someone endlessly pouring sand on your home bury it.

Nah. More like smashing a wundow and pouring sand it.

Picking lock at the very least takes some skills

Agree - Plus to the OP....it is almost impossible to stop a flood like that. You should be grateful that the tech guys managed to bring it all back up quickly after and if they were hackers, you would worry about your credentials being stolen....

OP is obviously mentally challenged.

There is not way to protect against a DDOS attack it is launched from 100s or thousands of random PCS from outside. It is just the same as anyone accessing Steam. However the people doing it are not real hackers ..just wannabees.

AS far as the people who do this stuff. Get a life. If you think your some kind of hero by trying to ruin somebodies Christmas Holidays by denying them access to their games and Steam your just a POS. Hope you all go to jail.

Pro tip for Valve: don't do inhouse DDOS protection, but leave it to companies that are specialized in dealing with that.

Well listen, whats done is done. Maybe now steam will do what needs to be done to stop this from happening again.

I think Valve is well aware of the services Cloudflare offers as they used them in the past.

basically the same, in that, no one cares.

they got interrupted from outside= they got hacked

Not the same thing, you're confusing hacking with an act of suppression

Not even close to being the same thing
