The Steam Mobile Authenticator is completely optional. I personally have a phone that is neither Android nor iOS so I can't use the Mobile Authenticator. Never had an issue.

If you describe the problem you're having more clearly instead of cursing, someone would better be able to help you resolve the problem you're having.

If the problem is that you aren't currently allowed to trade, have a look here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3330-IAGK-7663

Actually you don't need a smartphone to use the authenticator. You do need a cell phone to receive the one time activation code to activate the authenticator on the device of your choice. But nearly any device that runs IOS or Android can install and run the program. I installed the authenticator on a wifi only tablet so I know that this does work.

first off, for android phones the mobile authenticator is the worst, for account verification and definitely for market selling, #1. over 1 million people lose or have there phones stolen every year in the united states.. #2. 68% of people dont use lock screens.. #3. android is one of the easiest OS to hack and or get in to or clone if you know how...... i know 8 back doors to clone a android device through networking and 2 ways with nfc as a security pro my self.... #4. alot of people have work provided cell phones used for work or goverment use and have confidential or classified info on them there for asked to refrain from unnecessary apps & use, and prefor to not have two phones.... this being said iv polled away from steam and i began using console again or buying direct from microsoft, though id prefer to use steam if not for "Steam Guard" set up and limiting people 7 to 10 day per trade or sell for safty with out the mobile steam guard app but i can spend money on my master card all day lol

Do you have a source for that you can link? That number sounds way to high to me.

Smartphone thefts don't even matter. Lock your phone and use the built-in encryption. Voila, your Steam account safe with your phone.

I'm still not seeing it. The latest I see from that link is 2.1 million in all of 2014 which is a far cry from the 1 million a day in your OP

I meant....and said a year... and 2.1 stolen and 3.1 lost.. all in 5.2 mill. about 14,200 a day. Not a big deal for me any way, Not my loss or gain. A lot of my customers and friends have started conversations as the Winter Sale is too begin. This issue has deterred and annoy them enough that they have stepped away from the market and related things like getting credit towards badges too increase rank. Looking in too it, I agree with them on many points and some not... All in all,
Its steam's choice where they loos sales on the matter whether anyone agrees or not.. steam sales were around 3.5 bill last year and upwards of 280 mill for 2015 winter sale will see how this year's turn out is...

This years sale will be fine. There are plenty of people who don't really bother/care about the Steam marketplace so the lack of the authenticator won't bother them at all. And for those that do, you can always install the authenticator on a cheap or second hand tablet that never leaves the house. Heck, according to Steam the app will run on Android 2.2. You'd probably have to work to find an Android device so old it's running that. You could even buy one of those android mini-computers and run it on that instead. If you're that worried about your phone getting stolen/lost/broken and getting cut off from the Steam marketplace, there are alternate ways of accessing it.

(Since this thread still hasn't been closed)
come crying a day later when your PC gets compromised and you handed all the keys to anyone that wanted them because you decided to bypass the 2 part of the 2FA system.

If your going to waste peoples time necroing a dead thread don't give crap advice while doing it.
