Steam Download Speed Abysmal
I'm having a problem these past few days, the download speed is very slow even though I have a somewhat okay internet speed (5 MBPS) just last week I was having a 600 KB DL speed on steam but now it reaches to 300 bytes with an avg. speed of 15 KBpS. I tried reinstalling steam, changing download server, anti- virus, firewall, clearing download cache. Is there any way to revert it back to normal?

P.S. Is the disk usage related to this because I'm having a 0 bytes/s Disk Usage.

Did you check the Downloads tab under Steam settings to ensure you're not throttling yourself? Do you have any other network activity occurring while downloading?
I'm not sure what you are referring to regarding "disk usage", but speaking of disks have you checked yours? e.g., what amount of space you have left, and it may be a good idea to scan it for errors.

Also, do you have your terms straight? 600 KB = 600 Kilobytes, which is a little over 4.5 megabits. Is that the download speed, per second, you were getting?

The throttle box is unchecked and I don't have any network activities even on my phone. I still have 115 GB space left and the disk usage I'm talking about is the one below the "network usage" while downloading a game. 600 KILOBYTES 1 week ago but now it drops to 50 bytes then pauses the download, then it automatically resumes after 1 minute.

What operating system are you using? Check your Internet/Network options and make sure you haven't accidentally changed something, like engaged proxy settings for example.

Back to the Downloads tab in Settings, I'm assuming you've also tried hitting servers in different locations--are they all equally slow? Can you run a speed test over at DSL Reports and let me know what it tells you?

I was planning to post my speedtest result here but i dont know how to post a screenshot. It says that i have a download speed of 5 MB/s. I tried changing the locations and yes they are all equally slow. Im using windows 7 and i checked in other forums that people also have this problem when they upgraded to windows 10 but im still using 7. I forgot to mention that it all stsrted when i updated my dota 2 to 7.00 but all games and doenloads are affected.

hi legally blind sniper! click "results + share" after your speed test then there should be a text box under "Sharing" in that text box you will see a html code, just copy the link and post it here.

thank you so much for this advice. I was having the same problem only get 15 kbps. I just figured that was the way it had to be!

Then after reading this I found that indeed the bandwidth was limited to 16kb/s by default.

Now set to no limit and I'm getting a constant 5MB/s. I am in Australia and have an NBN connection.

Thanks again.
