Terrible download speed :: Help and Tips

Terrible download speed

Most of the time i get 1Mb/s~1.7Mb/s, but right now i can't get above 200kb/s. I have tried changing region, scanning for malware, restarting my pc and restarting my router.

-Make sure you don't have a limit set up from Steam's options, make sure you are using their closest server to you
-Some games download slower than others for me, I dunno why.
-Clear downloads cache
-Make sure you don't have anything else downloading stuff, Windows Updates or any kind of downloader
-Go to your AV and white-list your Steam library, the AV might be scanning every file which makes the whole process slower
-Is your disk fragmented? It might be your HDD not being able to read/write fast enough because of being fragmented, therefore Steam downloading at lower speed. (this one is shot in the dark)

Nothing is running in background, only steam, i already cleared the download cache. I have no idea, the only AV i use is Microsoft Security Essentials and SpyBot S&D, about the varying game download speds, to specify im was downloading S.T.A.L.K.E.R ShoC, it was downloading at the normal speed till it have reached the 2/3, then ive read abt clearing the download history on steam and did it, in process losing all the files i downloaded, which made me make this post in 1st place. Btw. thanks for quick response.

So EVERY game you downloads slows down when it's 2/3 of it done?

No, till i reached 2/3 of the stalker it was normal, but after reaching 2/3 it slowed down for all my games.

I had normal speed on all downloads until i reached 2/3 of the game im was downloading and then it all ♥♥♥♥ it self, and im stuck on 150-200kb/s on all downloads.

ISP might be throttling your speed? that's all that comes to mind.

Yeah dude, it seems that from time to time steam servers are really busy and your download slows down a lot, your best bet is to wait till it gets back to it's normal state.
