How to connect ps4 controller to pc

So im using windows 8.1 and i searched online on how to connect my ps4 to my pc. i installed ds4 but whenever i try to install the driver it just ends up saying installed failed but it will create a new folder called Vbus or virtual something with no contents inside. i kept deleting and reinstalling the whole thing but i just cant connect. so i tried to connect my controller using bluetooth, i was able to put my controller into pairing mode but my laptop doesnt detect it

You need to download "DS4tool" . That accepts the ds4c as an xbox controler

ok i think i figured out the problem, is that i didnt have microsoft network which i had to download from microsoft
