Steam client can no longer be installed on KDE Neon
Hello. Just a quick post to list the issues I and others are having regarding installing Steam on KDE Neon. I'm guessing this bug affects any modern KDE desktop when a user installs Steam directly fro the Steam website. The issue:
"After downloading complete aplication not runing. How to fix them?

[2016-12-11 19:27:51] Download Complete.

[2016-12-11 19:28:29] Shutdown
Running Steam on neon 16.04 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
[2016-12-11 19:29:00] Startup - updater built Oct 13 2016 00:47:16
SteamUpdateUI: An X Error occurred
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)"

And answer from the KDE developer*
"you may want to bring this to Steam's attention. Preliminary investigation suggests that steam's installer attempts to call konsole with a --nofork option which hasn't existed in quite a while. Calling with an unsupported option makes konsole not start which in turn prevents the automatic installation of dependencies."

Tried to report the bug directly to Valve, but apparently the Atlassian website is down and I was not able to make an account there. Any help appreciated.

KDE Neon is a 64bit only release and Steam needs 32bit libraries to works. I can't imagine why they insist on hanging onto 32bit on a platform where pretty much everyone is using 64bit but maybe some games can only port to 32bit, I don't know. Anyway, it is possible for you to get it working on KDE Neon but you'll probably need to add the Ubuntu PPA and download the required 32 bit libraries. I don't know what those libraries are. That's why I'm search right now and came across your post.

It's probably because the last hardware survey suggests that 2% of the userbase are still using 32 bit operating systems.
