Same Game, Same Computer, 2 Different Accounts... Same Save Files?

Hi, I recently bought Stardew Valley. I love it, and my girlfriend does too... so much so that she decided to create her own steam account and buy the game, so we could play it at the same time. The problem is, whenever she signs into her account on my computer and tries to play the game, Steam loads MY save data, not hers. I tried deleting all local content and even creating a new username in the computer and a new SteamLibrary folder for her, but it ALWAYS loads my save data on her steam profile, no matter what. No matter if we download steam anew into a new folder. Nothing works. We just want our own separate versions of the game, tied to our own separate accounts. We never made any decision to link the two, Steam just decided to do that. We've tried everything. What can we do now?

Try making a new windows account for her that way the saves will be seperate.

Add new account(guest) in your computer

Your savedata is located in %AppData%/StardewValley/Saves, so you should use different windows accounts or backup/replace that folder.

It's up to the game companies to choose where/how they store saved games. There are many variations on this problem.

Thank you all so much! Problem solved. I didn't realize saves were divided by logged in users. When she first bought the game and played it on her own Steam profile it was still logged into my username on my computer, so Stardew just looked for data in my AppData folder, found it, assumed it was hers, and copied that into her cloud. That's why it stuck with her even when she went to a different user account on my computer. Thanks again!
