Is there a way to completely hide my stats?

I like the friends feature on Steam, although I mostly use it as a easy access list to people who I can rely on to play with in certain games. However, I do not like how they can view how many hours played I have in other games. I have already set my profile to private, but my friends can still see how many hours I have in some games through things such as "Popular among friends" things on Steam, which reveal how much of a game I've played overall and how much in the last 2 weeks.

Its not that I spend unholy amounts of time on games, I just want to keep as much infomation private as possible. I have major trust issues.
