Annoying Yellow Circle on PC game from Steam??
I recently installed Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain and have a xbox 360 controller connected to it. The controller works great, just like the xbox one's, but everytime I start the game, there's this annoying yellow circle, surrounded by a blue aura and it is overlaying everything! It seems to be some kind of aimming reticle or something, but it is highly distracting and worst there's no solution to be discovered about it. I even unplugged my controller and mouse to see if it would go away, but nope it's still there. The circle is always positioned dead center of the screen, it's not entirely huge, but it's enough to be distracting when playing a game... Thankfully so far it has only come up on one game...but what is it and why is it there?? I've tried almost everything possible to rid myself of this stupid circle!! Does anyone have any idea???

It sounds like one of those visual sound OSD's. Check the settings in any audio software you use and turn off any OSD's.

I tried messing with my audio software, I didn't download anything recently. Also, i'm new to this is there any way I can share an image on here?

Tried to reinstall the driver for your mouse, keyboard and the controller?
Seems like you´re the only person that happend to. Couldn´t find anyone who´s got it.

Like I said it's really strange, I too investigated for something like this on the web...but nothing. I just uninstalled the devices for mouse and controller so i'll restart it and see if that works. By the way, I'm new to pc gaming and well is there a way I can share this image of the circle on here so people can visually see it?

If it´s an ingame bug, you can just screenshot it via Steam and post the link here.
You can also use "https://gyazo.com", which is basically the same thing, but just a third party programm, should still work out.
Or you can do it the hard way with "MSI Afterburner", this is a graphics card utility that, among other things, can take screenshots of your games.
You can download it for free from "gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner"

I´ll give you a hand:

  1. Download the MSI Afterburner installer (The file will download in ZIP format)
  2. Run the installer
  3. Launch MSI Afterburner after installing it
  4. Click the Settings button at the bottom of the window
  5. Click the "Screen capture" tab at the top of the Settings window
  6. Click the "Screen capture" field that currently says "None."
  7. Press the key or key combination you want to use to take screenshots
  8. Select your screenshot format
  9. Select a screenshot folder
  10. Save your settings
  11. Start a game with MSI Afterburner running
  12. Press your screenshot key or combination while playing

Have you tried to ask about it in the forum of the game? Maybe there is somehow who can help you better than I can, since I don´t even own that game, but if it doesn´t show up in the screenshots, it can´t be inside of the game. Something wrong with your monitor?
iirc, it's a known bug (I had it too). I think the only way to get rid of it is either alt-tab out and back of the game (does not work every time), or just put it (with your mouse) or in the lower right corner of the screen, making it "invisible".

And you'd better post this in the game proper forum if you want more answers :)

I'll keep that in mind for the future, as I said earlier, new to this. I'll give this a shot, thanks

No problem, and come to think of it, I'm wondering if we're talking about the same thing : I thought this circle was blue rather than yellow.
