Steam Inventory Is Private, Even For Myself.

I've had a lot of trouble recently. I even tried going to steam support and got no help. Lately Steam has not allowed me to view my own inventory on my network. Using my phone, laptop, desktop, etc, it says my inventory is private even though I'm supposed to be logged into my account. The other problem is Steam saying I'm not logged in when I currently am. When I start up steam, I put in my username and password and it shows that I am online, and my username is up in the top right corner. However, when I go to do something like installing a mod, it tells me to sign in. I click the sign in button and nothing happens. I've tried a fresh install of steam already and it did not help. Anyone have any ideas?

if you not loged out on computer and then log in on phone then it might not let you need to log out on one or outher for steam to work proper it called double loged in

Same issue here, and my son on his account and computer as well. It was fine till an hour ago. tells me now that my inventory is private. I did not change a thing. I've also tried everything to solve it but it just doesnt work :(

I finally got it to work. I had to install a VPN and after that everything works fine. Not sure why it does, but you should try it and everyone should get a VPN anyways.

I believe I have a solution for this issue. (or at least, a solution for some causes of this issue)

I figured it might be due to multiple computer logins due to @ELF EYES' comment, but I now suspect it may have something to do with Offline Mode.

I use my desktop primarily and my laptop sometimes, and I sometimes use offline mode with the laptop since I won't necessarily have an internet connection when I want to launch Steam.

I was unable to access my own inventory or several other pages per comments above. I was logged in and Online on the Desktop, and Steam had last been launched in Offline Mode on the Laptop but was not currently running.

Then I took the following steps:

1) In Steam on the Desktop, "Steam" > "Exit"
2) Launched Steam on the Laptop, being sure to launch in *Online* mode, using 2FA
3) In Steam on the Laptop, "Steam" > "Exit"
4) Launched Steam on the Desktop, using 2FA

The issue appears to be resolved. I can now view my Inventory page and navigate around other Community & Marketplace pages freely. I'm guessing that starting in offline mode sets some tag on your account globally that you can remove by restarting in online mode from the same machine. Good luck!

Oof, well if it's the only way i could use steam at the time, im sure they'd rather have my money ive spent on games than to ban me for using a vpn. After a few weeks it started working normally again. What MrMonroe said could very possibly be true, but after using the vpn for a little the problem fixed itself.

Actually it's strictly against Steam terms and conditions to use a VPN whilst purchasing anything, since it's considered as fraud. It results in immediate account suspension without warning.

Well here's another thing that causes it. MOBILE steam... yeah I logged off my mobile steam chat and it fixed it.

Kind of dumb because their mobile chat is bugged to all hell too. C'mon Steam.

Super late reply but you had it in first line - fix was simply going offline mode and online again for me and it only occurred after the first time i ever clicked offline mode so yeah the bugs with offline mode. Cheers. For Late googlers : Steam Inventory Private Fix go offline mode in freinds list and back on.

quiet easy to fix just go into settings and into go to privacy settings and then look at the invontory section and change to public and it will fix the problem

It's probably less do do with using a VPN resolving it, than with browser credential cache. I have this issue temporarily once a day, curious how nobody else does. I have to stare at the screen until it retries and refreshes. Was shocked the first time it happened, but waiting a good few seconds does often solve it. I know this is a long ago gone issue.
