What's wrong with running steam in compatibility mode?
I went into steam properties and enabled "Run as administrator" under the compatibility tab, then I launched steam and came across this message:
"Windows is currently running Steam in Windows Compatibility Mode which can cause issues with some Steam features and running games. Please follow the instructions below to remove compatibility mode."
The only reason I want steam to run as administrator is because I can't update games that are in my C drive unless steam has permission, and the only way I can think of to give steam permission is to make it run as administrator.
So far I haven't experienced any issues whatsoever with manually running steam as administrator, I'd just like to not have to do that every time I open steam, and the message that appears when launching steam is intimidating enough to convince me to disable compatibility mode.

This should work:

Right-click the shortcut you use -> click "Properties" -> go to the "Shortcut" tab if it didn't open there by default -> click "Advanced..." -> check "Run as administrator" -> "OK" -> "Apply"

You should be able to copy that shortcut into the startup folder, then. First you'll have to disable steam's own automatic startup:

Steam -> Settings -> Interface -> Uncheck "Run Steam when my computer starts" -> OK

If you're still on win7 like myself, then all you have to do is drag your modified shortcut into the "Startup" folder on your start menu. On win10, you'll have to open the folder itself, which by default should be at:

C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

then same thing, just drag and copy the shortcut to that folder. Should probably double-check that it keeps the run as admin setting, too, just to be sure.

That doesnt fix it, sadly. It simply doesnt launch when it runs as admin.
I found the solution though, i made a scheduled task on pc start up, with high priviliges.
Anyway, thanks for you help mate! cheers

Weird, it worked when I tested it out. But good to see you got another way of doing it.
