Steam download speed much faster than speedtest speeds

I'm having weird things happen with my internet. Not compaining but it doesnt match what speedtest tells me about my connection.

speed test = 12/12 which is 1.5MB/s download on my browser

steam downloads at 4.2MB/s.

Can anyone explain this?

Are you sure you aren't mixing up Mb/s and MB/s? Speedtests usually display Mb/s, Steam displays MB/s by default.

Are you sure you aren't mixing up Mb/s and MB/s? Speedtests usually display Mb/s, Steam displays MB/s by default.

Im sure. My browser clocks at 12down 12up on speed test (Mb/s). Which equates to 1.5(MB/s) download speed

My steam downloads at 4.2 MB/s which is more like 33 Mb/s when my speedtest shows 12Mb/s
