How to use ps3 controller on steam?
I've searched and seen so many videos and all I want to know is how to connect it on windows 7. I'm connecting the usb that goes with the controller and steam says its a generic controller, can someone teach me how to connect it with ps3 and/or wii u pro controller without bluetooth?

Is it an official Sony PS3 controller or a cheap knockoff?

The absolute best and easiest way to do it is to use a Steam Link, no software to install or anything. If you bought a cheap one then plug it in!

But if you don't have that option then go here for more info:
https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Controller:DualShock_3
https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Controller:Wii_U_Pro_Controller

Those two are the most problematic to use with a PC if you don't have a Steam Link but it can be done. PS4 controller and the xbox ones others are way easier.

You might want to get one of those mayflash adapters.

Controller stuff isn't the primary use for a Steam Link but take a look at one and see if this might be useful to you: http://store.steampowered.com/app/353380/Steam_Link/
Because if it seems good then it makes it way easier.

Steam Link also went on sale for like 5usd + shipping in the last sale and there is another sale coming up so it might go down again.

Just get a legitimate PS4 controller and be done with it. No fuss no compatibility issues and actual drivers from Sony.

Wait, so can't i just get a ps4 or Xbox controller and usb. would that be easier?

It would be the easiest thing to do, yes.

PS4/XB1 or official 360 wired controller. The wireless 360 controller requires the dongle.

I got a F310. That's been pretty good. I mean I used it for about 2 games but it works.

Yes that's also a good option. Logitech controllers are pretty decent as long as they're xinput.

The F310 comes with Dinput/Xinput toggle switch.
F510 comes wireless and the F710 comes with vibrators.
I didn't need those features. So the F310 is sufficient for me.
