Small game problem

So I've been playing Garry's mod for a while and today I started it up and now it does simply nothing! when I start it I have the common problem, it will say preparing to launch Garry's mod and then it does nothing. So far I have done the following: ran it as administrator, (checked that my pc is capable of running it), uninstalled and reinstalled twice, removed the add-ons, manually uninstalled then reinstalled, check the file integrity several times, went into the files and clicked hl2, restarted my computer a few times, and I even tried it on my hard drive on a completely different computer. Any tips or help please, Thanks .

Also completely different from this, as well as garrys mod I was able to play the portal demo yesterday and now it does the same thing. any other game I have works but those.

Also when I run it it immediately closes it will appear in the task manager and then go away it like completely closes itself, Im beginning to wonder if a recent update caused this.

Are you running these on a laptop? What OS are you on and has it updated recently? The fall windows 10 update just broke a lot of things. Also if you're on a laptop make sure that your graphics CARD is in use, and disable any onboard chipsets.

No im on a fairly old tower. I am in windows Vista. I disabled the optional video card I had on it but that did not make any difference to my problen sadly.

Oop now its working I had a graphics card laying around and It word VERY smoothly I have a GeForce 9500 GT for anyone who wants to know

apparently my graphics driver was out of date and garrys mod was preventing me from playing till i updated.
