Win10 Game DVR Audio Distortion?
Hi there,
Windows 10 Game DVR recording HL2, Portal 1 or Portal 2 I'm getting distortion in the audio in the recordings.
It's usually upper mid range crackle ... and Gladios voice crackle sometimes.
Audio is fine in the games not problems there.

In HL 2 > map d3_citadel ...

where you can grab the energy balls with the Gravity Gun and toss them around is where I'm recording and there's a lot of complex sound there ... but as I said it's perfect in the game and only distorted on the recordings.

And, no problems with recorded audio in Half Life 1.

I'm and audio professional,
https://soundcloud.com/steve_karl

have 2 great audio cards installed Echo Gina 24 and Echo Layla 24.
The settings for those cards are correct in Windows

Recording at 60fps. 30 wasn't that good.

Game DVR settings for audio are set to any of the 2 highest bit rates. Haven't tried the lower ones but it stands to reason that the highest is the best choice.

Record Game in background is off - meaning don't record my previous 5 minutes.
Microphone level slider is pulled far left for off.
System Slider is at 50%.

I tried lowering the volume inside of the Game also, and the level of the audio on the .mp4 clips is generally less than -6dB when opening the clips in Vegas and never reaches 0 dB.

I could grab the audio off of the Sound Card output to an other PC
and record it there and sync it up in Vegas with the clip audio, but that's a real time waster.

So,
Does anyone have any thoughts or tips to maybe cure this problem?

Thanks!

I changed to ShadowPlay ( nVidia ) and the video and audio quality is perfect.
Also > Video obviously better than Win10 GameDVR.

I'm having the exact same kind of problem too, the static starts within an hour of gameplay recording, what should I do to fix it?

Hi!
I know this post is old, but if anyone wants to find a solution, here's how:
1. Go into settings (Win + i )
2. Go into game or gaming>screenshots
3. From here, scroll down until you see microphone volume and game volume. Put both to 100% and your problem shall be solved, at least my problem was this.
A little explanation: because both are on 50%, your voice is quiet and the game audio also gets cut off to 50% due having it being set to that and it's setting the volume to 50% then back to 100% while it not detecting speech and so on.
I really hope this also solves your problem!
Have an awesome day - Zsombek:))
