Internal Microphone does not work only on Steam.
My internal microphone has stopped working suddenly.
I have reinstalled audio drivers, Steam, updated windows 10, tried everything else from the internet.
Mic does work on other applications like Chrome, Skype etc., It doesn't work only on Steam Application.
The voice settings show no indication when I test the microphone.

Have you disabled microphone enhancements, just to see if that does anything?

I tried it both the ways; disabled and enabled it, didn't work.

Try right clicking Stereo Mix and set it all to both defaults for comms
Then do it on your Mic Array again. Then disable Stereo Mix

Then disable the Mic entirely and connect a better Mic
Faced Similar issue today. Everything was working fine and suddenly mic stopped getting triggered, at first I thought my mouse button4 gone faulty but it was working fine. Realised only steam is not able to detect my Mic hardware. Is your issue resolved?

No, I still have problem with internal microphone with Steam.
I bought new microphone and use that for voice chat.

You first check if your microphone is working from both sides, i.e., both left and right mic should be active (for internal laptop microhone).
Steam only accepts sound if your mic is working from both sides.
To check that just record anything with your voice and listen that recording, if voice is audible majorly from one side then your mic is broken, buy a new one.

If mic is working perfectly, just download audio drivers compatible to your motherboard/laptop model from your manufacturers website. Windows 10 updates cause these problems.

You can see this video I found on YouTube, the uploader had same problem.
He has also mentioned the same solution, do try it.

Don't report this to Steam Support; it's useless, they send a reply with no solution.

Steam Support is for serious complains, appeals and actual account support.

Not for your PC issues. Thats what forums are here for.
