Yeah, sorta looking for a workaround for why Steam doesn't just let me start the download anyway (plenty of other programs do) so I could just then get it to read off the files I already had.
But thanks, lol.
Put the game files back where they originally were. There right-click on Nier Automata in your Steam Library. Pick "Properties", and then go to the "Local Files" tab... then click the "Move Install Folder" button.
OF course.. *BEFORE* you do that make sure you have a second Steam Library set up on your SSD. To do *that*... Go to the tippy top where it says Steam - View - Friends - Games - Help.
Pick "Steam" and then "Settings" ... then click the "Downloads" tab.. and then at the top click the "Steam Library Folders" button. Then click "Add Library Folder" ... and pick or create a Steam Library Folder on your SSD.
~~ That way when you pick "Move Install Folder" above.. it'll let you pick your SSD to move the game to.
That should get you around the issue you're having with Steam wanting the full 48 GB free before trying to "find" the files you *Maunally* moved. Because moving them properly with the Built-In-Steam function shouldn't give you that problem.
Thanks. Just sorta figured it out the same way. I wasn't getting the Move option at first. Then I reinstalled and verified it on my external HD. It then allowed me to move the whole lot over to the SSD without having to redownload.
Look at the date of the thread, this is 6 years old. At that time the UI was completely different.
