[SOLVED]Steam won't recognize that i'm online or logged in to my account
I've had this problem now all day before I dusted the insides of my PC and putting CoD WW2 Open Beta onto my library not sure if they were even the problem to begin with. So I normally rebooted my pc and it starts falling from there

The first problem i had encountered was that Steam did not launch after checking for updates and i forcibly closed it using task manager and re-opened, same thing. After a few tries however it brought me to the login in which I still am not able to connect as it says I have no connection online

I resolved this however (after googling about) by adding -tcp to the steam shortcut launch parameters (forgot to mention I'm no good with all tech stuff related) everything worked fine except steam did not recognize that i was logged in in which I could not access to my friends activity feed and game store pages has a tiny box that lets me sign in which is not suppoed to be there

I googled more stuff and what i did was flushed my dns using cmd, did the ipconfig /release /renew thing, netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset, resetted my router and my pc, even reinstalled steam which brings even MORE problems

Right now it won't even let me update the steam launcher, after a few seconds it just says "Steam Fatal Error" "Steam needs to be online to update. Please confirm your network connection and try again"

I've tried all the previous solutions and also tried disabling firewall/antivirus and even changing to something else (Previously Avast Antivirus now i'm using Kaspersky free trial as substitute) it did not change anything.

Web and mobile clients are working fine (on web client as of posting this)

i found a solution.

1. open Internet Explorer
2. Go to Settings
3. Internet Options
4. Go to Connections Tab, Click on LAN Settings
5. Uncheck "Automatically Detect Settings, DONE

Let me know if it's working!

Just hover to your connection settings on the notifications tray
open network and sharing center
on the bottom left you will see "internet options"
proceed to do what was instructed

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
