Substinence game wont start. TRIED EVERYTHING!!!!

recently downloaded substinence the game and was very excited to play it. as soon as it was dowloaded i pressed play and it said preparing to launch and then running but it immediately dissapeared and did nothing at all. i tried restarting steam, my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, verifiying game cache, backed it up and i even uninstalled steam and all my games but it still did not help. im on a asus laptop. if you have this problem with this game or another one and know what to do please help me
