Steam Crash when adding a product key

hello, my friend gave me a steam key , i tried to activate it but steam crashes every time !
never happened to me to face a situation like that ,normally i see : wrong key , or duplicate key , or product activated, but here it crashes directly

Edit : i used the browser, and it said ii already have the product, but when i tried using the steam client , i keeps crashing

Edit 2 : i also used another product key ,and it worked ! maybe the problem is with the first key that i used??

i did it : it said i already have the product, but it didn't tell me which one xD
and it keeps crashing when i 'm trying with the client

more than likely it be in you librarie so the 2 cd key of same game will not work so just gift it to someone or a friend
