It also depends on the server.
But eh.. if u want a ping around 5-20, get a 50k connection.
You could have a horrible downloadspeed of less than one MBit and have a ping of 10 while a 50MBit connection could have a ping of 500.
It's not the speed of the connection that matters, it's the quality of the connection and the distance and routing to the server.
What could I do to decrease my number of ping?

Pick the server that's closest to you geographically.
How do I pick the server closest to me? I can't anything about theese very advanced internet stuff.
So aslong as you have 1/2 - 1mb nothing more will improve it. Being closer to the server, reducting other network tasks and stuff will help but increasing speed 100x will not reduce your ping.
