Amount of MBPS for a good ping around 10?
Hola!

First post btw, don't know actually which section.
I just wanted to know how much MBPS do I need to get a ping around 5-20?
I believe that I can do better with such low ping, I'm usually lagspiking in competitive, I usually have to wait till my siblings and parents are gone so I can play.

My friends usually have a ping around 5-8, meanwhile I have a ping of 70-120. I rarely get 60 or below. Could you guys perhaps give me a MBPS to PING converter? DANKE!

Sincerely, Azept.

Basically It doesn't have as much to to do with your ping as the nnumber of hops and systems between you and the game server. Your connection is only at best your ISP's connection to the first hub on the internationasl backbone. More likely it's strictly the speed between your ISP's servers and your system.

Pick the server that's closest to you geographically.

How do I pick the server closest to me? I can't anything about theese very advanced internet stuff.
how about using the internet to inform you? your writing right on it you know?

why do you guys still spoonfeed him. he is too lazy to even google ping...really

I am really confused right now.
So I live in Norway and my internet host is Homenet, it sucks. If I change modem, will my internet get faster or do I need to get a need router? It says that my mbps is 29. I AM REALLY CONFUSED.

Changing your modem or router will not make it faster. Only your ISP, Internet Service Provider can make it faster and that all depends on what internet package you pay for.

Right now your 29mbps is more than fast enough for gaming and increasing it to 999999999999999mbps will not improve your ping it will only improve how fast you can download things.

29MBPS is fast? Are you sure about that? I seem to be lagging alot. Unlike my friends, they got like 5 ping EVERY DAMN GAME

How on earth were people able to play when 56kbit was the future? They must have had a ping of 2 weeks or so...... no?

Very basic example using the same speed for upload and download to keep it simple!

You want to send data from A (You) to B(Server)
(A)-----------------------------------------------(B) takes 50ms, thats your ping.
Now lets say you have internet speed of 1mb and we send 1mb from A to B
(A)-----------------------------------------------(B) takes 50ms.
Now lets say you have internet speed of 29MB and we send the maximum 29MB from A to B
(A)-----------------------------------------------(B) takes 50ms as the distance is the same.
Now lets say you have internet speed of 100MB and we send the maximum 29MB from A to B
(A)-----------------------------------------------(B) takes 50ms as the distance is the same.

The only difference when increasing your speed is the amount of data you can send NOT how fast it can get there. Some bits of hardware, router, modem and other bits between you and the servers and even software on your system may be affecting how fast data reaches the servers but i'm not going to get into that.

So for the last time, by me anyway, having a faster download speed will not improve your ping to the servers!!!!!!!!!

SO THE REASON WHY I AM LAGGING IS WHERE I LIVE?

After you made sure its not packet loss, and your connection to router isnt at fault,
we can proceed finding the answer to this question.

Why didnt you do it by now?
