Amount of MBPS for a good ping around 10?
Hola!

First post btw, don't know actually which section.
I just wanted to know how much MBPS do I need to get a ping around 5-20?
I believe that I can do better with such low ping, I'm usually lagspiking in competitive, I usually have to wait till my siblings and parents are gone so I can play.

My friends usually have a ping around 5-8, meanwhile I have a ping of 70-120. I rarely get 60 or below. Could you guys perhaps give me a MBPS to PING converter? DANKE!

Sincerely, Azept.

The question is.. what's your connection speed.
It also depends on the server.

But eh.. if u want a ping around 5-20, get a 50k connection.

Downloadspeed has nothing to do with ping.
You could have a horrible downloadspeed of less than one MBit and have a ping of 10 while a 50MBit connection could have a ping of 500.

It's not the speed of the connection that matters, it's the quality of the connection and the distance and routing to the server.

Will my ping lower if I buy a router with around 700+ MBPS?

What could I do to decrease my number of ping?

It does not matter how fast your internet speed is or equipment is. It is all down to how well your ISP routes your traffic. The more hops the higher the ping.

Change provider or, better yet, place of residence.

Plug a cable right into the server the game runs on :steammocking:

The router practically does not affect the ping. The delay of any no more than 1 ms.

I think I might be getting the point, it's where I live.
Is changing DNS a good option?

DNS doesn't affect ping at all.
What is your ping?
Not to a specific server, in average?

In average, it's around 70-120. My kind of lag is that players teleport instead of me rubberbanding.
Try to enable net graph ingame or make speed tests which show the continuity of download.
Sounds as if packets get lost

Basically It doesn't have as much to to do with your ping as the nnumber of hops and systems between you and the game server. Your connection is only at best your ISP's connection to the first hub on the internationasl backbone. More likely it's strictly the speed between your ISP's servers and your system.

Pick the server that's closest to you geographically.

How do I pick the server closest to me? I can't anything about theese very advanced internet stuff.

I've had a ping around 50-70 on a 1/2mb connection after I first changed from a 56k modem. Even had 5 people using the 1/5mb connection on cs 1.6 and we all got a ping around 80. Only thing speed really affects in gaming past that is downloading the game, patches and maps from different servers.

So aslong as you have 1/2 - 1mb nothing more will improve it. Being closer to the server, reducting other network tasks and stuff will help but increasing speed 100x will not reduce your ping.
